Common questions
What does 'word associations' include?
Definitions, synonyms, antonyms, rhymes (filterable by syllable count), phrases and expressions. Every word in the results is clickable — so you can follow a chain of associations without typing anything new.
How do I filter rhymes by syllable count?
Once you get rhyme results, you'll see buttons to filter by 1, 2, 3, or 4+ syllables. One-syllable rhymes are exact rhymes; 2-3 syllable rhymes often give you more interesting options.
What are near-rhymes?
Near-rhymes (slant rhymes) share a vowel sound or ending sound but aren't exact. "Fire" and "higher" are near-rhymes. They're used constantly in contemporary songwriting — often better than perfect rhymes.
How is this different from a rhyming dictionary?
A rhyming dictionary gives you rhymes. This gives you rhymes AND the word's full context — what it means, what it's similar to, what it's opposite to, and what phrases it appears in. That full context is often more useful for finding the right word.
Can I navigate between related words?
Yes. Every word in the results is clickable. Click a synonym to look it up. Click a rhyme to explore its own associations. Use the back arrow to retrace your steps. It's designed for free exploration, not just lookup.
